Our Mission

At Bleating Hearts Farm and Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a safe, loving refuge for farm and domestic animals who might otherwise be deemed “unadoptable” or a lost cause. We specialize in caring for animals with unique needs, offering dedicated attention, specialized care, and mobility assistance. Here, every animal is valued, and every life is given the chance to thrive.

We believe every animal deserves a chance at life, love, and purpose. When individuals can no longer care for their animals, we encourage them to reach out for help in finding proper, compassionate placement. Our mission extends to farmed and domestic animals with congenital or injury-related deformities, providing them with the specialized care they need to thrive.

We are also dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation. By offering students humane alternatives for their raised animals, we aim to reduce lethal livestock auctions. We promote live sales to companion-only homes and advocate for roles such as weed abatement, fire prevention, cruelty-free petting zoos, natural ground tilling, and emotional support companions.

Through partnerships with local fairgrounds and auctioneers, we work to change rules and provide options for live sales, helping kids learn about animal care in a rewarding and life-saving way. Together, we’re creating a future where animals and people alike can find purpose and connection.

We are dedicated to reducing euthanasia rates in California by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming farmed and domestic animals. Through education, we inspire the community to embrace compassionate, animal-friendly lifestyle choices, fostering a more humane and sustainable future for all.

Farm animals have so much love to give. Just like cats or dogs they are capable of emotions and so much personality.

Did you know you can train a goat to do tricks just like a dog?

We go beyond rescuing animals—we support our community through weekly free produce giveaways and anonymous homeless outreach when resources allow. Our mission is rooted in sustainability, as we strive to create an eco-friendly, replicable urban farming model on our single-acre plot.

With the help of our animals, who naturally till the soil and provide fresh fertilizer, we grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs using all-organic practices, free from synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. This not only nourishes our rescued animals but also allows us to share surplus harvests with those in need. By growing our own food, we reduce feed costs and direct more donations toward lifesaving medical care and infrastructure, fostering a healthier, more connected community.

In time, we would love to provide resources and lessons for others on how to grow their own produce in an organic, eco-friendly, self-sustainable way.
